A 10-minute walk from the riad, this iconic store is an Ali Baba’s cave of artisanal delights. Hidden behind an unassuming door you’ll find dazzling gold lanterns, cactus silks, colourful ceramics and authentic kilims. They can ship any items to your doorstep in Europe or the Americas.

V.Barkowski
Just next door is Valerie Barkowski’s dreamy store, offering chic, pared-back home textiles. Valerie has worked with local Marrakechi artisans for over 20 years, using traditional embroidery techniques such as colourful tasselling to embellish her luxury linens. You’ll also find a selection of locally made leather accessories.

33 Rue Majorelle
Opposite the gates to the Majorelle Garden, this upmarket boutique showcases colourful clothes, handmade footwear, dazzling jewellery and quirky homewares by over 100 talented local designers, many of them up-and-coming.

L’Art du Bain
This bijou store of handmade plant-oil soaps smells like a garden, with gorgeous wafts of fresh scents of mint, orange flower, jasmine and rosemary. Great for souvenirs or buy the traditional savon-noir (black soap) to take to a local hammam.

Hanout
Hip fashion boutique selling glamorous silk kaftans, kilim boots and boho-chic tunics and dresses, all handmade and embellished by local artisans. As seen in Selfridges.

Soufiane
For antique carpets and authentic Berber rugs, head to this long-established family-run business. Their prices are fair, they ship all over the world, and they also weave their own contemporary designs.

Max & Jan
This concept store offers an international twist on traditional Moroccan styles, resulting in ethnic-chic fashion, accessories and homewares. We especially love their oversize necklaces and boho kaftans. They also run a brilliant ‘Soul Food’ restaurant on their rooftop terrace.
